About the position

The Bar Manager at Glacier National Park is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the beverage operation, ensuring high standards of service, staff training, and compliance with policies. This seasonal role emphasizes teamwork, personal growth, and providing exceptional hospitality to guests in a vibrant and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the scheduling and coordination of all Lounge personnel via 7 Shifts scheduling software.
  • Observe, monitor and follow up on all areas of the beverage operation on a daily basis.
  • Work with Front of House Managers on duty in maintaining high standards of beverage presentation and sanitation in compliance with NPS/Xanterra criteria.
  • Train, develop and evaluate all Bartender, Lounge Attendant & Lounge Server personnel within defined company standards.
  • Provide on-going feedback to service personnel performance concerning all aspects of the beverage operation.
  • Assist in controlling food and labor costs by consistent communication with other members of the management team and all food and beverage staff members.
  • Provide appropriate courses of action to correct any issues.
  • Motivate all staff members to maximize sales by utilizing menu knowledge and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Follow Xanterra and NPS environmental practices, safety practices, and policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty Program as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of mix drinks, pour and serve wine, beer, and other beverages as needed.
  • Responsible for teaching and motivating employees and management to accomplish goals of providing excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
  • Must be able to remain calm in a high stress environment while motivating and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Certification in the TIPS alcohol awareness program is required; workshops will be provided if not currently certified.
  • Physical Requirements include: Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds, and frequently lift and carry supplies, materials, and equipment throughout the day.
