About The Position

The BARC Customer Service Representative III (Rescue Coordinator) is responsible for coordinating the logistics of transferring animals to rescue partners, both locally and nationally. This role involves hands-on work with animals, including walking and loading them into transport vehicles, while also collaborating with various departments to ensure the best outcomes for shelter animals. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who enjoys logistical coordination and direct interaction with animals, contributing to the mission of saving lives.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Three years of administrative or customer service-related experience are required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates rescue placement logistics with rescue organizations.
  • Work in conjunction with other shelter team members to plan the dates and times of rescue pickups.
  • Prepare transport paperwork and ensure all animal records are entered into the shelter database system.
  • Communicate with rescue organizations to ensure smooth transactions.
  • Recruit and maintain relationships with both current and prospective rescue organizations, and regularly communicate via phone and email.
  • Supplement animal care duties such as but not limited to walking dogs, loading dogs and cats into vehicles for Rescue Transfers.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to advise partners on treatments that are necessary for transfer animals.
  • Maintain surgery calendar, schedule surgeries for animals coming back from rescue partners that require spay/neuter or amputation.
  • Evaluate animals' behavior and medical condition to inform rescue partners of the animal's needs.
  • Capture pictures and videos of animals in the shelter for better marketing.
  • Send detailed emails to rescue partners to notify them of the animals in Urgent and Emergency situations.
  • Work in conjunction with the medical team to create a euthanasia list.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and enforce/uphold all BARC policies.
  • Assist in other outreach areas as necessary and or other special duties as assigned.
