Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages utilizing blenders, coffee makers, grinders, and espresso machines.
- Ensure all activities meet sanitation, safety, and quality control guidelines set forth by departmental policies and the West Virginia Department of Health.
- Take inventory, place orders, retrieve orders, and put orders away.
- Run cash register, retrieving initial bank of money, verifying amounts, and balancing out bank at the end of shift.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, and service areas.
- Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and hot holding equipment.
- Describe and promote items to customers in a positive and service-driven way.
- Serve and prepare hot and cold items.
- Routinely clean, straighten, and restock all food items and supplies.
- Sweep and mop floors, retrieving trash and taking it out to the dumpster.
- Label and date food items as appropriate.
- Create signage daily as directed.
- Lock down cafe at the end of meal service and return cash bag as directed.
Requirements
- Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from the local health department prior to starting OR obtain a Temporary FSWP no later than the first worked day and a permanent FSWP within 1 week of start date or next available class (ServSafe meets this requirement).
- High school diploma or GED is preferred, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
- Six months previous food services preferred barista experience.
