About the position

The Barista position at Lakeside Hotel Casino is a part-time role focused on preparing and serving coffee, beverages, and food items to guests. The role emphasizes customer service, cleanliness, and teamwork, ensuring a pleasant experience for patrons while maintaining operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
• Take guests' orders at the counter or over the phone.
• Make beverages following specifications as required by Starbucks.
• Be certified in hot bar, cold bar, cashiering, and product prep for current and next shifts.
• Enter all transactions in the point-of-sale system, accept payment, and account for all funds.
• Keep all register receipts organized and document refunds and voids correctly.
• Prepare and handle food items safely, ensuring a clean work area.
• Review the status and appearance of food for freshness.
• Assist guests with retail items/products for sale and process transactions as necessary.
• Assist with display, inventory, and stocking of retail items.
• Anticipate product needs and communicate them to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare and replenish products as necessary.
• Check in and put away products.
• Perform daily/weekly/monthly side work and cleaning duties.
• Wash equipment and dishes as necessary following serve-safe guidelines.
• Remove trash in a timely manner.
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure guest satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission License.
• Must have a valid Driver License.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and kneel unassisted for long periods in close working environments.
• Ability to understand and operate registers using American currency.
• Must maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance.
• Must be able to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in customer service or food service industry.
