About the position

The Barn/Facility Manager at UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center is responsible for overseeing the daily care of program horses and maintaining the facility. This role involves supervising volunteers, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the barn and paddocks, and coordinating with equine professionals. The manager will also handle facility maintenance and repairs, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care of program horses including feeding, administering supplements and medicines, and maintaining barn cleanliness.
  • Be on-call with the Equine Manager for horse emergencies and health issues.
  • Work with equine professionals such as vets and farriers as scheduled.
  • Maintain safe and clean paddocks and run-in sheds, making repairs as needed.
  • Stock hay sheds and complete monthly supply inventory, communicating needs to the Equine Operations Manager.
  • Submit payment vouchers according to policy and procedures.
  • Train and supervise barn/facility volunteers and provide training sessions as scheduled.
  • Cover the barn during UpReach holidays as scheduled and close the barn as required.
  • Ensure the facility is safe, accessible, and welcoming for all.
  • Coordinate snow removal, sanding, and fence repairs as needed.
  • Safely operate and maintain all farm equipment, including vehicles, and drag arenas weekly.
  • Oversee facility work groups as scheduled and perform other duties as requested to support the organization's mission.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Experience providing horse care
  • Experience operating tractor, snowblower, lawnmower, and power tools
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
