About the position
The Barrel Handling Operator at Land O'Lakes Inc. is responsible for the proper sealing, closing, labeling, handling, and storage of cheese packaged in the CM department. The role involves performing various duties across three key areas: Closing/Sealer, Monorail Room, and Cooler, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Seal, weigh, and scan barrels in the Closing/Sealer area, including cleaning tasks.
- Store barrels in the Cooler area, which includes blowing off fiber, inverting, wrapping, and stocking barrels, as well as transporting empty drums to the Salter area.
- Unload barrels from carriers, remove press plates and extenders, and move carriers to the washer in the Monorail Room area.
- Run fillers for salter breaks, with specific breaks assigned for day and night shifts.
- Communicate daily with TQ, Supervisor, office, and co-workers regarding policies, procedures, documentation, quality, and production issues.
- Ensure accuracy and timely completion of all department paperwork.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP guidelines, and LQMS requirements.
- Contribute to a behavioral-based safety culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Lead or Production Supervisor.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 6 months of verifiable work experience required.
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and write effectively in English.
- Ability to perform basic math equations.
- Proficient in utilizing computers and software programs.
- Effective communication skills to ensure product flow to the next work station.
- Ability to contribute to a safe and organized work environment.
- Willingness to work variable shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Maintain prompt and regular job attendance.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
