The Bartender at HMSHost in Pittsburgh International Airport is responsible for providing exceptional service to customers by greeting them, taking drink and food orders, and preparing a variety of beverages including cocktails, beer, and other drinks. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, ensuring that all guests receive the highest quality of service at all times. Bartenders must communicate effectively with the manager on duty and servers regarding ticket times and any potential issues that may arise during service. This position is non-exempt and typically reports to the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or General Manager, depending on local requirements. In addition to taking orders and mixing drinks, the Bartender is responsible for collecting payments and operating cash registers in accordance with company cash handling policies. They must ensure that the bar area is clean, sanitized, and well-stocked, adhering to all safety and sanitation policies. Bartenders are also required to follow alcohol awareness procedures to prevent intoxication and manage intoxicated guests appropriately. This role may involve lifting and moving items up to 40 pounds and requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and twist throughout the shift. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of bartending experience, preferably in a high-volume or fast-casual dining environment. Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, along with their preparation and presentation, is essential. Bartenders must demonstrate a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing demeanor while interacting with customers and coworkers. They should also be able to read and comprehend instructions and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers.
