About the position

The Historic Griswold Inn in Essex is seeking an experienced bartender to join their award-winning Taproom team. This part-time position involves working day shifts from Monday to Friday, focusing on providing excellent customer service in a busy, high-quality environment. The role offers an opportunity for training for candidates with barback experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional customer service for food, beverages, cocktails, wine, and beer.
• Utilize the TOAST POS system for basic menu ordering and cash handling.
• Prepare the bar for service and maintain beverage par levels.
• Stay updated on current menus and practices, and engage in suggestive selling.
• Deliver the proper guest experience by following established pour standards and using ServSafe and Tips models.
• Open and pour wine tableside properly.
• Issue guest checks and receipts, accept payments, and return change.
• Perform basic organization and cleaning tasks as directed by the Lead Bartender.
• Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.
• Adhere to uniform and service standards consistently.
• Communicate products and services available at the Inn.
• Maintain the ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs.

Requirements

• Experience in bartending or barback roles.
• Knowledge of wine and cocktails.
• Familiarity with cash handling and POS systems, specifically TOAST.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Physical stamina to be on feet for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

• Server experience for table service is a plus.
• Valid ServSafe certification.
