About the position

The position involves the day-to-day administration of Mesa Airlines' Safety Management System (SMS) program for Technical Operations. The role serves as the focal point for coordinating and submitting process changes that drive Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) requirements, ensuring compliance with company procedures and federal regulations. The individual will also perform inspection functions to ensure aircraft airworthiness and serviceability, participate in management meetings, and maintain records related to the SMS program.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Safety Management System (SMS) program for Technical Operations.
  • Coordinate and submit process changes related to Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) requirements.
  • Maintain, organize, and retain records related to the SMS program.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to update management and the SMS team on current SRAs and associated changes.
  • Ensure compliance with the company general procedures manual, safety program manual, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Perform assigned inspection functions to ensure aircraft are airworthy and serviceable.
  • Review Aircraft Maintenance Logs (AMLs) and Deferred Maintenance Lists (DDLs) for pilot reports and maintenance corrections.
  • Audit AMLs prior to the removal of the white copy.
  • Review Non-Routine Job Cards (NRJCs) for deferred maintenance items.
  • Certify aircraft airworthiness after inspections by signing the aircraft airworthiness release in the AML.
  • Record discrepancies detected on appropriate worksheets.
  • Participate as a member of the Maintenance Management Review Board (MMRB).
  • Review all documentation utilized for aircraft inspections to ensure proper completion of entries.
  • Perform receiving inspections of materials and/or equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Quality Control.

Requirements

  • Hold Mechanic's Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings for at least three years.
  • Meet requirements of 14 CFR Part 65.83.
  • Have at least one year of maintenance/inspection experience on large aircraft with 10 or more passenger seats.
  • Ability to work different shifts.
  • Physical ability to lift, stand, and bend for long periods.
  • Pass initial and random drug screens.
  • Availability for occasional travel.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) through work or education.
  • Experience analyzing data to determine risk levels.
  • Detail-oriented with data gathering for SRA submissions and organized record retention.
  • Team-oriented and able to work well with different management levels and FAA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations.
