About the position

As a Baseball Operations Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the organization and execution of weekend, spring, and summer tournament programming at our state-of-the-art facility in Aberdeen, MD. This position is integral to the scheduling of all core programming lines and the overall operations of tournaments. You will assist in overseeing part-time operations staff and contribute to weekend sales efforts, ensuring that all related duties and activities are executed efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain quality control surrounding all baseball and softball activities, ensuring that our tournaments not only meet but exceed expectations. In this role, you will be responsible for executing all customer care and communication for registered teams, overseeing the collection of necessary items from customers prior to events, and ensuring that all documentation is complete and accurate. You will also handle invoicing and payment collection as needed, execute pre-event communication, and monitor all schedule requests made by teams for tournaments. Producing tournament schedules for approval by the Operations Manager will be a key task, along with serving as the on-site supervisor during weekend tournaments. Additionally, you will oversee facility First Aid operations, monitor baseball operations-related inventory, and collaborate closely with umpire assigners to address tournament needs and scheduling. Assisting in weekend tournament sales efforts under the General Manager and coordinating camps and clinics as necessary will also be part of your responsibilities. You will ensure that all sponsorship activities related to tournament play are executed effectively and assist in various operational areas such as food and beverage and retail operations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all customer care and related communication for registered teams

  • Closely monitor all baseball operations related inventory
  • Work closely with umpire assigners on related tournament needs and scheduling
  • Assist in weekend tournament sales efforts under the General Manager
  • Assist as camps and clinics instructor and coordinator as necessary
  • Ensure that sponsorship activities related to tournament play are executed
  • Assist in facilities operations, food and beverage, retail operations as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-2 years of experience working in sports business/operations or related field
  • Solid understanding of youth baseball and tournament operations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Positive approach to learning
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good planning, directing, and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service orientation to respond to needs of parents or coaches
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in sports- or business-related field such as Sports Marketing, Management, or Instruction
  • Former collegiate or professional baseball and/or softball experience
  • Proven track record of leadership in a professional environment
  • Sound knowledge of the game of baseball/softball and tournament operations
  • Willingness to take on special projects and roles based on the needs of the company
