As a Baseband Hardware Design Engineer at Apple, you will be part of a dynamic team that is at the forefront of innovation in mobile technology. You will collaborate closely with world-class architects and IC designers during the architectural phase, focusing on power, digital, and clock management for next-gen chipsets. In this position, you will be responsible for driving the schematics, layout, and bring-up of both development and form factor hardware. You will also tackle complex hardware, software, and coexistence issues that arise from the scale and volume of Apple products. Your role will require you to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the entire product landscape, as you will work cross-functionally with teams involved in Apple SoC, battery, sensors, and iOS. This collaborative environment will allow you to leverage your expertise in electrical engineering fundamentals and mobile platform system design to create innovative solutions that enhance user experiences. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement baseband hardware systems for Apple products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
  • Drive the schematics, layout, and bring-up of development and form factor hardware.
  • Debug hardware/software coexistence issues in high-volume consumer electronics.
  • Work with architects and IC designers on power, digital, and clock management for chipsets.
  • Conduct bench-level design verification using high-speed oscilloscopes and other testing equipment.
  • Perform signal and power integrity simulations using tools like SIwave and HFSS.

Requirements

  • BSEE degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Expertise in electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with schematic capture and layout design.
  • Familiarity with mobile platform system design and high-volume consumer electronics.
  • Knowledge of voltage regulators, LDO, and switch mode power supplies (SMPS).
  • Experience with high-speed and low-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe, SPMI, and RFFE.
  • Bench-level design verification experience with high-speed oscilloscopes and network analyzers.
  • Signal/power integrity simulation experience preferred.
  • Experience with clock and timing devices like crystal resonators and TCXOs preferred.
  • Familiarity with wireless chipsets including WIFI, BT, GNSS, cellular, and NFC preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced simulation tools for signal integrity analysis.
