About the position

The Operations Team Lead at Bashas' Supermarkets is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the grocery store, ensuring that sales, profits, and customer service goals are met. This role involves direct supervision of store personnel, merchandising, and maintaining compliance with company policies and health regulations. The Operations Team Lead serves as a mentor and coach to team members, fostering a positive work environment and enhancing customer shopping experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader of the store team and act as a role model, coach, performance evaluator, and trainer.
  • Create a store environment that is appealing to both employees and customers.
  • Supervise the merchandising of various departments to meet store and company standards.
  • Collaborate with the night crew chief and day clerks to ensure proper merchandising and product availability.
  • Build product end caps, floor displays, and side stacks.
  • Execute and support all Bashas'/Food City sales and merchandising programs.
  • Oversee the ordering of general department merchandise and audit products received.
  • Ensure proper shelf stock levels and minimize product shrink.
  • Work with warehouse buyers and vendors to ensure attractive product offerings are available.
  • Observe and enforce all store rules and company policies.
  • Oversee the selection and training of new team members.
  • Assist in creating a department budget and track financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with health department and weights and measures guidelines.
  • Ensure product signage and shelf tags meet company and governmental requirements.
  • Achieve department sales and profit goals.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in grocery store operations or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience in merchandising and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of health department regulations and compliance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a supervisory role within a grocery or retail environment.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and budgeting processes.
