About the position

The Basketball Coach for the Boys Freshman team at Minuteman High School is responsible for leading and developing young athletes during the winter season. This part-time, temporary position involves creating a positive team environment, teaching basketball skills, and coordinating practices and games. The coach will also engage with parents and manage team events, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement basketball plays and techniques.
• Coordinate the team's practice schedule and attend all practices and games.
• Prepare the team for games and function as a liaison with other coaches.
• Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive team environment, promoting team spirit and unity.
• Mentor and motivate athletes, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them achieve their goals.
• Work with school administration to ensure compliance with all necessary requirements and regulations, including safety and liability issues.
• Communicate with parents and coordinate team events and fundraising activities.

Requirements

• Experience as a basketball player or coach.
• Strong knowledge of basketball techniques and plays.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their goals.
• Organizational and management skills, including the ability to schedule and plan practices and events.
• Familiarity with safety guidelines and regulations for basketball activities.
• Dedication to promoting a positive team spirit and inclusive environment for all team members.
