About the position

The Basketball Strategy & Operations Analyst position at the NBA involves providing strategic and operational support for various projects related to officiating, gameplay, player health, youth basketball, and fan engagement. The role is integral to the league's basketball technology initiatives and requires collaboration across multiple departments to drive strategic initiatives that enhance the game and grow fan interest.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and operational support for large-scale cross-functional projects led by Basketball Strategy & Analytics.
  • Provide operational support to the NBA Launchpad program focused on sourcing and piloting emerging technologies.
  • Design and lead basketball research projects in collaboration with the Consumer Insights team.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracting related to fan insights and basketball research.
  • Generate ideas and innovate to grow fan interest in basketball and the NBA.
  • Craft professional-looking presentations and reports to communicate research findings effectively.
  • Support high-quality communications and presentations to senior leadership across the League and its teams.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate the impact of proposed season structure changes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for increased efficiency and transparency in processes.

Requirements

  • Strong quantitative skills and analytical approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Detail-oriented execution with a focus on aligning strategic priorities with operational reality.
  • Dedication to high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the sports industry and basketball.
  • Ability to collaborate flexibly within a team.
  • Understanding of confidentiality regarding officiating and player health information.
  • Adaptability to changes in work responsibilities or environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • 2-4 years of work experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree required with a strong academic record.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $105,000 - $125,000.
  • Work option of 4 days a week in the New York, NY office.
