About The Position

The Batch Maker is responsible for maintaining safe manufacturing processes for quality coatings by accurately adding chemicals and pigments according to specified formulas. This role emphasizes safety and quality control in the production environment, ensuring that all operations are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Requirements

  • Educational attainment equivalent to high school graduation.
  • Extensive milling experience.
  • Thorough understanding of chemicals used in paint making, including functionality and hazards.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and applicable OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with management and vendors.
  • Mathematical skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of measures of weight, volume, and conversion methods.
  • Ability to read and write in English.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the accurate operation of pump controls, gate valves, and a compactor.
  • Understand the functions of all plumbing valves and pump controls in milling and filling operations to route products correctly through the plant.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Perform quality control tests on all products, including viscosity, draw down, temperature, and WPG.
  • Coordinate the bailing of recycled super sacks in the compactor.
  • Open 55-gallon drums using pliers and a wrench.
  • Fill 5-6 gallon pails with liquids from semi-bulk totes.
  • Use a handheld scanner to record inventory movements accurately.
  • Maintain records of inventory movements, formula adjustments, and reports.
  • Operate computer-controlled automation systems for raw material delivery and milling equipment operations.
