About the position
The Battery Reliability Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of the company's battery technology, particularly focusing on Li-ion battery powered products. This role involves conducting reliability risk assessments, overseeing demonstration tests, analyzing test data, and developing strategies to enhance battery reliability.
Responsibilities
- Conduct reliability risk assessments and DfR initiatives on Li-ion battery powered products.
- Plan and oversee the execution of demonstration tests.
- Analyze test data and determine root causes of failures.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve battery reliability.
- Collaborate with product design engineers to develop battery performance and reliability metrics.
- Understand different battery chemistries and their applications with a focus on reliability.
- Monitor design verification and validation plans, providing guidance and escalating concerns as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of battery performance and reliability data.
- Provide input during Risk Assessments, FMEA/DFMEAs, and Design Reviews.
- Investigate failure modes and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage third-party resources for delegated work packages.
- Support product development plans regarding schedule and cost.
- Mentor less experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Master of Science Degree in Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in battery reliability engineering, preferably in the automotive or energy storage industry.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing battery reliability programs.
Nice-to-haves
- PhD in Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification in Reliability engineering.
- Experience developing and/or validating power electronic products.
- Experience with renewable energy products.
