About the position

The Battery Reliability Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of the company's battery technology, particularly focusing on Li-ion battery powered products. This role involves conducting reliability risk assessments, overseeing demonstration tests, analyzing test data, and developing strategies to enhance battery reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct reliability risk assessments and DfR initiatives on Li-ion battery powered products.
  • Plan and oversee the execution of demonstration tests.
  • Analyze test data and determine root causes of failures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve battery reliability.
  • Collaborate with product design engineers to develop battery performance and reliability metrics.
  • Understand different battery chemistries and their applications with a focus on reliability.
  • Monitor design verification and validation plans, providing guidance and escalating concerns as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of battery performance and reliability data.
  • Provide input during Risk Assessments, FMEA/DFMEAs, and Design Reviews.
  • Investigate failure modes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Manage third-party resources for delegated work packages.
  • Support product development plans regarding schedule and cost.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Master of Science Degree in Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in battery reliability engineering, preferably in the automotive or energy storage industry.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing battery reliability programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD in Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Certification in Reliability engineering.
  • Experience developing and/or validating power electronic products.
  • Experience with renewable energy products.
