About the position

ENGIE North America is seeking a Battery Storage Technician for the Chillingham Solar/Storage project in Temple, TX. The role involves performing high voltage switching, managing documentation, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. The technician will also assist in training and coordinate work among contractors and vendors to maintain high standards of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform High Voltage (HV) switching, substation, and HV equipment lockouts and grounding tasks.
  • Utilize Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques to address plant abnormalities and equipment failures.
  • Manage documentation and update parts inventory.
  • Submit on-site status reports including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Initiate work orders for equipment repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections and prepare oil analysis samples.
  • Safely use tools such as hot sticks, multimeter, and IR Camera.
  • Assist with equipment operation training for contractors and site employees.
  • Coordinate work on-site between contractors, vendors, and BESS service providers.
  • Participate in the behavior-based safety program and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Communicate and enforce site safety rules through orientations and meetings.
  • Demonstrate procedural compliance in all operation and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain site equipment to maximize availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Perform electrical testing using appropriate PPE and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the site.
  • Recommend changes to enhance plant performance and availability.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program focusing on electrical or instrumentation controls.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in BESS sites, solar generation sites, wind generation sites, thermal power plants, manufacturing, or mining operations.
  • Proficient in using and maintaining SCADA systems.
  • Ability to be on call as necessary.
