About the position

The Battery Test Technician plays a crucial role in supporting product development by setting up battery testing and transitioning to failure analysis after tests are completed. This position requires meticulous documentation and effective communication with team members to ensure a smooth transition to failure analysis while maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Setup of cells and batteries and operation of battery cycling equipment (MACCOR, ARBIN, PEC, NEWare) according to established procedures.
  • Maintain thorough records using team whiteboard, Lab Notebooks, and Test Lab Laptop for all batteries tested.
  • Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve test and equipment issues as needed.
  • Provide communication with experiment owners and FA team members for post-mortem analyses.
  • Perform soldering, crimping, stripping, heat shrink, and small fixture building and repair of cable assemblies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; technical degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience with electrical, electronics, assembly in a manufacturing or lab environment.
  • Knowledge of MACCOR, ARBIN, PEC, and NEWare battery cyclers or similar power electronics equipment.
  • Knowledge of Flirone or other temperature inspection tools.
  • Ability to interpret electrical results related to cells and batteries.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of testing rechargeable cells, batteries, and systems.
  • Rigorous adherence to the scientific method and internal peer review procedures.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maneuver in tight spaces and wear steel toe shoes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure and experience with battery test labs and procedures.
