About the position
The BAYLOR Weekend Charge Nurse at The Lakes Skilled Nursing Center is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents while supervising nursing activities during the assigned shift. This role involves ensuring compliance with facility policies, maintaining a safe and sanitary environment, and coordinating care for residents, particularly those with dementia. The Charge Nurse will also oversee administrative functions, participate in committee meetings, and ensure that nursing staff deliver high-quality care in accordance with established protocols.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents while supervising nursing activities for the assigned shift.
- Ensure the facility meets minimum staffing levels for nurses and nurse aides.
- Assist in developing a dementia care program with a holistic focus.
- Coordinate pre-certifications and recertifications for Medicare Advantage and commercial insurance payers.
- Participate in facility surveys and audits of nursing documentation.
- Communicate with primary care physicians regarding residents' statuses and follow up on critical labs.
- Monitor medication administration processes and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist in training department personnel and nursing students.
- Complete required recordkeeping forms and document accidents/incidents involving residents.
- Ensure that residents receive culturally competent trauma-informed care.
Requirements
- Must possess a current unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN/LVN in the state.
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience as a supervisor in a healthcare facility.
- Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must demonstrate leadership and supervisory ability.
