About the position

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Host/Hostess to join our team. This role is pivotal in shaping the guest experience, as our Hosts/Hostesses are the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant. The ideal candidate will embody the spirit of hospitality, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and a genuine desire to create memorable experiences for our guests. The Host/Hostess will be responsible for seating guests promptly at tables that are pre-set according to the number in the party and their preferences, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment they arrive. In addition to seating guests, the Host/Hostess will manage the host/hostess stand, review the guest reservation book, and make recommendations for room setup. They will maintain a station chart and cover count for the restaurant, recognizing the maximum workload capacity of each server to uphold the Four Seasons Service standards. The role also involves answering telephones in accordance with Four Seasons standards, taking guest reservations, and providing information about the restaurant and other hotel services. Anticipating guest needs and responding to inquiries or problems is crucial, as is the ability to recognize regular guests by name and utilize their names consistently during interactions. The Host/Hostess will also inspect and maintain daily menus to ensure quality, condition, and appearance, while developing a comprehensive knowledge of all menu items and daily specials. This position requires a proactive approach to guest service, ensuring that every interaction reflects the Four Seasons commitment to luxury and genuine hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Seat guests promptly at a table pre-set for the number in the party and according to guest preference.
  • Remove spare covers if necessary.
  • Set up host/hostess stand and review guest reservation book.
  • Make recommendations for room setup and maintain a station chart and cover count for the restaurant.
  • Recognize the maximum workload capacity of each server to meet Four Seasons Service standards.
  • Answer telephones according to Four Seasons standards and take guest reservations or provide information regarding the restaurant or hotel services.
  • Anticipate the needs of guests and respond to inquiries or problems.
  • Recognize regular guests by name and utilize their names consistently.
  • Inspect and maintain daily menus to ensure quality, condition, and appearance.
  • Develop a complete working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials.

Requirements

  • Three to six months of restaurant, food and beverage, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Ability to accurately read and work with OpenTable systems.
  • Legal work authorization in the United States is required.
  • Required by the Hawaii State Department of Health to obtain a Tuberculosis (TB) clearance card when working in food and beverage.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required.
