The High School Business Teacher at Beech Grove City Schools is responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive curriculum focused on business principles, including marketing, finance, accounting, and business operations. The role involves creating a conducive learning environment, assessing student progress, and maintaining classroom order while adhering to district policies and educational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media based on student needs and physical limitations of the location.
  • Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses learning disabilities of students and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order fairly.
  • Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating their performance cooperatively with department heads.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education
  • Valid Indiana teaching license
