About the position

The Before and After School Program Receptionist at Calvary Church of Naperville plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and organized environment for students and their families. This part-time position requires a split shift, where the receptionist will be responsible for various administrative tasks that support the smooth operation of the school-age program. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, patience, and understanding to their interactions with children, parents, and staff, fostering meaningful relationships that contribute to the success of the center. The receptionist will assist in providing a safe and nurturing Christian environment, ensuring that all activities are engaging and appropriate for school-age children. This role is essential in maintaining communication between parents and the school, as well as managing the reception area effectively. In addition to answering phones and directing calls, the receptionist will take and relay messages, provide information to callers, and input data into the school information system. They will also attend to students visiting the office, communicate messages between parents and staff, and assist with general first aid for minor injuries. The receptionist will greet visitors, assist parents with the check-in and check-out process, and monitor visitor access to maintain security awareness. General administrative support, including inventory control relevant to the reception area, is also part of the job responsibilities. The receptionist must embody the school's values and be a role model for students, demonstrating a commitment to the school's Statement of Faith and Christian principles.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone, screen, and direct calls
  • Take and relay messages

  • Greet persons entering the school office
  • Assist with general first aid for student injuries while on the playground or in the classroom
  • Direct persons to the correct destination
  • Assist parents with checking their child in and out of the program
  • Assist parents with using the security check-in system
  • Deal with queries from the public and customers
  • Monitor visitor access and maintain security awareness
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support
  • Control inventory relevant to the reception area
  • Tidy and maintain the reception area

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Keyboard skills
  • Ability to work a switchboard
