About the position

The BASE Site Coordinator is an entry level leadership position that includes development and implementation of education programs in accordance with YMCA quality standards at a school site of 44 or less students enrolled. The BASE Site Coordinator is responsible for the support of coordinated activities in cooperation with one or more assistant teachers. This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
  • Manages all aspects of site responsibilities for smaller program sites of 44 students or less enrolled at any one time and operates in ratio during program hours.
  • Leads the site program's daily operations including site specific scheduling, communication, and maintaining program statistics and audits to monitor and evaluate the quality of the program.
  • Engages the site team and school to meet the needs of the families served.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provides a model for relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with peers, parents and educators, and community organizations to maximize program impact.
  • Daily operations of a childcare program for school age children.
  • Implementation of engaging and relevant curriculum.
  • Safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes children and families.
  • Maintenance and promotion of an impactful educational program in accordance with the YMCA and DHS licensing and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field OR
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field and one-year experience with children OR
  • Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
  • At least 4 years' experience working with children and some credits in education or related field work.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and teach skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must keep an up-to-date DHS file with a current physical.
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.
