About the position

The Before and After School Site Director at Edward Jones YMCA is responsible for the planning and coordination of programs and activities that cater to the developmental needs of children. This role requires ensuring compliance with YMCA, state, and school guidelines, policies, and procedures. The Site Director will work closely with children, staff, families, and school personnel to maintain a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the well-being of all participants. The position involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities that foster social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth in children. In addition to program planning, the Site Director will supervise and mentor group leaders and support staff, ensuring that all staff members are equipped to meet the individual needs of children. The role also emphasizes the importance of maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders, including families and volunteers, and actively participating in the protection of youth and teens by adhering to a zero-tolerance policy for abuse. The Site Director will also be responsible for supporting the growth and development of the program, ensuring that it aligns with the YMCA's goals and principles of developmentally appropriate practices. This position is part-time and offers a starting pay of $16 per hour, with opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization. Responsibilities

  • Support planning and coordination of program and its activities.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of YMCA, State and School guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure individual needs of children are met.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, families, school personnel and volunteers.
  • Maintain an environment that ensures children, staff and family safety and well-being.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that advance all areas of children's development and learning, including social, emotional, intellectual and physical competency.
  • Conduct program in accordance with YMCA goals and principles of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Supervise and mentor group leaders and support staff.
  • Support program growth and development.
  • Ensure zero tolerance for abuse and actively participate in the protection of youth and teens.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess at least 1 year experience working in child care/camp/recreation or related field.
  • Ability to use typical business software and office equipment.
  • Strong communication, organization and detail skills.
  • Understanding of the role of volunteerism within the YMCA.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, be self-motivated and possess knowledge of group work principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in the following areas per required timeline: Principals of Early Learning & Afterschool, Engaging Youth 5-9, Engaging Youth 9-12, School Age Child Care Director.
