About the position

The Before School/Extended Care Team Member position is a part-time role located at 1265 Laskin Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. This position is paid hourly, starting at $12 an hour, and involves working after school from Monday to Friday. The working hours are expected to be from 2:45 PM until 6:00 PM or until the last student is picked up, with the exception of school breaks. The primary responsibility of the Team Member is to implement all licensing regulations, schedules, and care for the extended care program. The role requires direct reporting to the Extended Care Lead, ensuring that all activities and care provided align with the established guidelines and standards. In this role, the Team Member will be responsible for maintaining a positive environment for the children, supporting their developmental needs, and ensuring adherence to the program's licensing guidelines. The position requires effective communication and coordination with the Extended Care Lead, as well as the ability to accept feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve the program. The Team Member is expected to develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, while also modeling appropriate behavior and appearance in accordance with school policies. This role is crucial in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children during the extended care hours.

Responsibilities

  • Implement all licensing regulations for the extended care program.
  • Fill out time sheets as directed by the Extended Care Lead.
  • Lead students with appropriate management techniques.
  • Follow and implement the schedule designed by the Extended Care Lead.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working with children and staff.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the Extended Care Lead.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the developmental needs of young children.
  • Accept evaluation and redirection, making necessary changes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with children, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that models cleanliness and modesty in accordance with school policy.
  • Demonstrate character qualities such as enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.

Requirements

  • Ability to implement licensing regulations for child care programs.
  • Experience working with young children in a care or educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with the Extended Care Lead and parents.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and engaging environment for children.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and needs of the program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a similar role or child care setting.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
