About the position

The Behavior & Child Development Interventionist at Optima Family Services is responsible for providing direct in-home services to individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related disorders. This role involves implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions and offering child development services to enhance the skills of children from birth to 36 months. The position requires collaboration with families and supervision by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct implementation of applied behavior analysis (ABA) interventions to individuals with special needs in a one-on-one setting.
  • Address problematic behaviors using Positive Behavior Support techniques and utilize nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (CPI) approved procedures.
  • Plan activities that encourage parent involvement and high child participation.
  • Monitor client progress through regular observation and communication with Optima staff regarding ABA programs.
  • Familiarize with each client's positive support plan and behavior intervention plan, meeting regularly with supervisors to discuss progress.
  • Collect accurate data on skill acquisition and problem behaviors on a daily basis.
  • Drive to clients' locations to provide services in various settings, including homes, schools, and the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Child Development, Special Education, Early Childhood, Human Development, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • At least 9 months prior experience working in the ABA field and at least 1 year of experience working with infants/children.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate preferred but not required.
  • Ability to drive, access to a registered car, a valid driver's license, and valid auto insurance.
  • Good communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • US work authorization is a must.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities is preferred but not required.
  • Experience driving home-to-home and dealing with different family environments is preferred but not required.
