About the position

The Behavior Intervention Specialist at International Academy of Flint plays a crucial role in supporting students' behavioral and academic success. This position involves designing, implementing, and evaluating behavior support interventions for students, particularly those who are at-risk or behaviorally challenged. The specialist works collaboratively with staff, students, and families to foster a positive school environment and enhance student engagement and achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership at the building level for behavior support interventions.
  • Assist staff in identifying antecedents and functions of behavior.
  • Attend MTSS meetings to design Behavior Intervention Plans and social skills instruction.
  • Work directly with teachers on implementation of interventions.
  • Use ongoing assessments to maintain records of student progress.
  • Engage parents/caregivers in the behavior intervention plan process.
  • Participate in the School Leadership Team and other relevant meetings.
  • Provide leadership and share knowledge with others in the school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of K-12 experience with at-risk or behaviorally challenged students.
  • Knowledge of function-based intervention planning.
  • Ability to complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Commitment to the philosophy that all children can succeed.
  • Social Emotional Learning Training or Endorsement.
  • Computer literacy.
