About the position

The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing individualized training programs aimed at promoting positive behavior, social skills, and functional communication in a home environment. This role involves collaboration with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to behavioral intervention, particularly for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement individualized training programs in the home environment.
  • Promote positive behavior, social skills, and functional communication.
  • Assist students and/or parents in acquiring skills in executive functioning, behavior management, coping skills, social skills, activities of daily living, and communication as outlined in the student's IEP.
  • Utilize evidence-based, safe, and appropriate handling, guiding, and prompting procedures.
  • Develop and implement interventions that teach new skills and reduce interfering behaviors.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of the effectiveness of the intervention and modify as necessary.
  • Establish and schedule work hours in compliance with the student's individualized education plan.
  • Collaborate with treatment team members, outside professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and submit quarterly and annual progress reports as per the timeline set by the Local Educational Agency (LEA).
  • Maintain student confidentiality and dignity.
  • Ensure proper filing and storage of all student data.
  • Attend relevant CSE meetings.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Special Education and/or ABA.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Experience managing behaviors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish (Required).
  • Potential to develop into leadership-level supervisory roles.
