About the position

Learn Academy is seeking a full-time Behavior Interventionist for its FACS Program in Victorville, CA. This role involves working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, particularly those on the Autism Spectrum. The Behavior Interventionist will support the educational needs of special education students aged 6 to 22, utilizing evidence-based strategies and programs to foster academic and personal success.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the teacher in implementing program components such as Clinical Program, Instruction, Special Education Services, and Physical Fitness.
• Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students and monitor their ability to follow directions and behavior.
• Ride in the school van to pick children up in the morning and drop them off in the afternoon.
• Collect data regarding student(s) reaching goals/objectives as directed by licensed staff.
• Assist staff in maintaining charts and other records related to student(s) progress.
• Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide students with opportunities to practice.
• Assist students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
• Implement district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned and required by the building administration and licensed staff.

Requirements

• 1-2 years' experience working with children in a special needs education setting.
• Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors.
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times.
• Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions.

Nice-to-haves

• College degree preferred.
• PCMA Certification a plus.
