About the position

Learn Academy is seeking a full-time Behavior Interventionist for the FACS Program in San Gabriel, CA. This role involves working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, particularly those on the Autism Spectrum. The Behavior Interventionist will support the educational needs of special education students aged 6 to 22, utilizing evidence-based strategies and programs to foster academic and personal success.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing program components such as Clinical Program, Instruction, Special Education Services, and Physical Fitness.
• Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students and monitor their ability to follow directions and behavior.
• Transport students in a school van to and from school.
• Collect data regarding student progress towards goals/objectives as directed by licensed staff.
• Maintain charts and records related to student progress.
• Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide opportunities for practice.
• Assist students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
• Implement district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as CPI training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by building administration and licensed staff.

Requirements

• 1-2 years' experience working with children in a special needs education setting.
• Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors.
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times.
• Physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions.
