About the position
The Behavior Interventionist at 1-Step Ahead provides direct 1:1 intervention to children with autism and other developmental delays, utilizing evidence-based methods to teach new skills and reduce behavioral challenges. This role involves working in both home and school settings, collecting data on child progress, and collaborating with Program Supervisors to ensure effective teaching strategies are implemented.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct 1:1 intervention to children with autism and/or developmental delays.
- Conduct sessions in natural environments such as homes and schools.
- Implement lesson plans developed by Program Supervisors.
- Collect and graph data on child progress.
- Interpret data trends in relation to the child's development.
- Provide caregiver and teacher training under supervision.
- Communicate with Program Supervisors regarding instructional materials and child progress.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Child Development, Special Education, Education, or a related field is preferred.
- Six months of experience in an educational setting with young children is required.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in implementing ABA-based techniques such as discrete trial teaching, natural environment teaching, and errorless teaching.
