About the position

The Behavior Professional will work with individuals with co-occurring Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and Mental Health diagnoses in Jackson and Josephine Counties. This role focuses on developing behavioral support documents in line with Oregon Administrative Rules and principles of positive behavioral support, as well as creating and implementing training materials and providing specialized training for staff and individuals supported.

Responsibilities

  • Model appropriate support and communication techniques for individuals, regardless of their behavioral reactions.
  • Understand and apply Positive Behavioral Support and Behavioral Theory effectively.
  • Manage a caseload and create/maintain Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs).
  • Track billable hours accurately.
  • Uphold Oregon Administrative Rules regarding behavior and safeguarding interventions.
  • Maintain a physical presence in the homes of individuals on the caseload.
  • Achieve and maintain certification as an OIS 'Agency' Trainer and fulfill related responsibilities.
  • Participate in New Employee Orientation as a trainer.
  • Be part of an on-call rotation for the assigned area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Education, Social Work, or other social or behavioral sciences.
  • BCBA graduate-level certification/Master's Degree with one year of experience providing Positive Behavior Supports.
  • Bachelor's Degree with two years of experience providing Positive Behavior Supports.
  • No qualifying degree but six years of experience providing Professional Behavioral Supports prior to January 1st, 2023.
  • Must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment.
  • Pass a State/Federal Criminal History Check and background screening.
  • Pre-employment drug screening for illegal substances in Oregon.
  • Valid Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
  • Certification in first aid/CPR within 60 days of hire.
  • Certification in Oregon Intervention System (OIS) within 60 days of hire.
  • Pass a pre-employment computer skills assessment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in training staff on behavioral support techniques.
  • Knowledge of Oregon Administrative Rules regarding behavior and interventions.
