About the position

The Behavior Specialist - Clinician at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is responsible for implementing life-changing goals and programs for adults with intellectual disabilities. This role involves conducting assessments, creating interventions, modifying behaviors, and providing individual counseling and behavior support. The position emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and external entities to develop comprehensive treatment plans and support individuals in achieving their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling and behavior support to assigned programs.
  • Conduct assessments, consultations, and monitoring to create comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Develop and maintain Individual Support Plans and behavior plans.
  • Consult on Individual Support Plans Goals/Objectives.
  • Collaborate with external entities such as vocational programs, psychiatrists, physicians, and family members.
  • Train and develop new staff through specialized orientation in assigned programs.
  • Engage in assessment and treatment related to individuals' functional skills, behavioral and psychiatric needs, communication, and personal adjustment.
  • Attend and contribute to Interdisciplinary Meetings (IDT's) to assess individuals' needs, progress, and strengths.
  • Provide clinical guidance and schedule clinical services.
  • Act as a liaison to families and outside entities.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation focusing on individuals' social, mental, and emotional status.
  • Support individuals through crisis management, de-escalation, and accompaniment to ER for psych assessment.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field and/or certification.
  • Two years of experience in behavioral interventions/counseling with children or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Demonstrated appropriate Core Competencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) techniques.
  • Familiarity with developmental disabilities and human services.
