About the position

The Behavior Support Professional at ResCare Inc. is responsible for providing specialized support and training to individuals with assessed needs, focusing on adaptive skills training and positive behavior support. This role involves developing and implementing training plans, conducting functional assessments, and collaborating with staff to ensure effective intervention strategies are applied consistently across various environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develops training plans that include person-specific aspects and methods of intervention or instruction.
  • Provides training to staff persons who will implement the training plans on aspects and methods of intervention.
  • Provides training for Direct Support Professionals who provide Respite services if applicable for respite-relevant training objectives or health/safety training objectives only.
  • Evaluates/monitors the effectiveness of the training plans through analysis of programming results that occurs at least monthly.
  • Revises training plans as needed.
  • Completes a Functional Assessment to identify targeted maladaptive behaviors.
  • Creates Positive Behavior Support Plans to meet Association for Positive Behavior Support standards of practice.
  • Provides training to staff persons who will implement the Positive Behavior Support Plan.
  • Evaluates/monitors the effectiveness of the Positive Behavior Support plan through analysis of programming results that occurs at least monthly.
  • Follows-up once the Plan has been implemented to observe progress/regression.
  • Revises the Plan as needed.
  • Develops the task analysis portion of the Individual Health Plan/Individualized Support Plan and person-specific strategy or methodology for development of habilitation plans.
  • Develops Interactive Guidelines or Behavior Protocols for individuals who do not require a formal Positive Behavior Support Plan.
  • Collaborates with Behavior Support Professionals from other agencies to ensure that Positive Behavior Support strategies are consistently applied across all environments.
  • Facilitates person-centered planning as a component of the Positive Behavior Support plan.
  • Presents proposed restrictive measures to the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Waiver provider's Human Rights Committee if no other professional is presenting the same information regarding the person.
  • Attends and participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings.

Requirements

  • Experience in behavior support or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavior Support principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement training plans and behavior support plans.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Certification in behavior analysis or related fields.
