About the position

The ideal candidate has experience providing services to people with Autism and is comfortable dealing with difficult behaviors. If you are an experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) looking for career advancement, this may be the position for you! This is a great position to grow in - we provide free portable training and certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all daily responsibilities of a direct support professional.
  • Compile behavioral data as requested by the Behavior Support Department.
  • Assist in psychiatric appointments. Communicate with Residential and Day Habilitation staff regarding behavioral challenges.
  • Supervise the implementation of behavioral support plans and assist as needed.
  • Generate observational reports and monthly progress reports for everyone.
  • Assist with clinical presentations for the Human Rights Committee (HRC), Life Plan/Staff Action Plan review meetings, Residential and Day Habilitation Staff meetings and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings.
  • Maintain clinical paperwork as regulated by New York State OPWDD regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must be able to attend orientation before starting official shift. This paid training is located at our main office in the Bronx.
  • Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van - you will be road tested prior to starting.
  • Must attend additional trainings within 6 months of hired (CPR, SCIP, AMAP).
  • Comfortable with daily use of technology (computer, email, phone, typing etc).
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities/autism.
  • Great opportunity for college students majoring in Human Services and Psychology.
  • Experience in applied behavior analysis (ABA) preferred but will train.
