About the position

The Behavior Technician/Teacher Assistant at The J Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center plays a crucial role in implementing behavior analysis educational and treatment programs for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position involves working under the guidance of various educational and clinical directors, collecting data, and participating in treatment teams to enhance the quality of life for individuals in a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement behavior analysis educational and treatment programs for individual children in the classroom.
• Collect data within individual child measurement systems and participate in data management.
• Communicate any medical, physical, or other changes in student status to the teacher, BA, and nursing staff.
• Coordinate classroom activities when the Classroom Teacher is absent.
• Document any medical/physical injuries/incidents and follow evacuation procedures.
• Assist with transitions, inclusion opportunities for students, and special activities.
• Support all students, classrooms, and staff to promote a safe and enriched learning environment.
• Implement child educational programs in inclusive settings in public education or other educational environments.

Requirements

• Associate's degree, 60 college credits, or TA/Paraprofessional certification.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience working with children in a teaching capacity is preferred.
• Valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and own vehicle for transport.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with children with autism.
