About the position

As a Behavior Therapist at Steps Therapy, you will play a crucial role in implementing early intervention programs for young children with autism and other special needs. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in children's lives and exploring careers in education, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, and psychology. You will work closely with families to reinforce learned skills and provide support in various settings, including in-home and school-based environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 in-home or school-based intensive behavioral therapy
  • Carry out individualized lessons and behavior plans as directed by the supervisor
  • Utilize ABA instructional strategies, including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, natural environment training, incidental teaching, pivotal response training, and verbal behavior
  • Facilitate social skills training
  • Record the child's progress, graph data, and update data sheets
  • Attend team meetings as needed, as well as internal and external professional workshops
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding the child's progress/behaviors and any intervention modifications
  • Work collaboratively with teammates, parents, and other professionals
  • Maintain an organized program binder and complete required paperwork
  • Maintain agreed upon schedule for the child and arrive at scheduled sessions on time
  • Make reasonable attempts to provide make-up sessions or find substitutes for missed sessions
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Experience using ABA-based strategies a plus
  • Pursuing undergraduate studies in psychology or education fields a plus
  • Employment conditional upon satisfactory background check
