About the position

The Behavioral Health Access & Assessment Nurse at Mass General Brigham plays a critical role in supporting the behavioral health care continuum by facilitating patient admissions and discharges, ensuring that patients receive appropriate care in a timely manner. This position involves collaboration with various clinical teams to identify placement barriers, assess patient needs, and enhance system-wide efficiency in behavioral health services. The nurse will also engage in data analysis and project management to improve access and resource allocation within the behavioral health system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise around the behavioral and medical needs of behavioral health patients, identifying and communicating placement barriers.
  • Support efficient behavioral health throughput system-wide during admission and discharge processes.
  • Work closely with MGB BMH leadership to track, analyze, and present performance and efficiency metrics.
  • Lead change management efforts and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report data and outcomes related to central access and disposition planning.
  • Prepare and present updates, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Serve as a liaison to behavioral health inpatient and admissions nursing leaders across the system.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
  • 10+ years of inpatient psychiatry unit and/or emergency department experience required.
  • 5 years of nurse leader experience in a psychiatric setting or similar role.
  • Inpatient behavioral health assessment and service coordination experience required.
  • 1-2 years of project management experience required.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions without direct supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Team management experience in a matrixed organization preferred.
  • Experience managing remote teams preferred.
