About the position

The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) is seeking dedicated professionals for the Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) positions, focusing on providing clinical services and support to Oklahoma youth and families. The role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing therapy to help clients achieve their full potential. This position is located at the Central OK Juvenile Center in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, and is essential in promoting the well-being of children and families through evidence-based practices and community collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial interviews with clients to gather case history and background information.
  • Administer, score, and interpret various cognitive, affective, and behavioral assessments.
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans based on assessment findings and interviews.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
  • Prepare comprehensive evaluation reports.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary staff conferences.
  • Engage in programs and evidence-based practices to support child and family well-being.
  • Maintain confidential records of client services in compliance with regulations.
  • Appear in court and provide testimony in client hearings.
  • Consult with community agencies and school systems on behalf of clients.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, human relations, clinical/direct practice social work, or a closely related field with at least 300 hours of applied clinical practicum.
  • For BHC II: One year of post-master's experience providing professional counseling services and must be license eligible.
