About the position

The Behavioral Health Clinician (LCSW) at Milford Regional Medical Center is responsible for assessing and providing behavioral health evaluations in the Emergency Department. This role involves working closely with patients and their families to identify and address behavioral health issues, including substance abuse. The clinician acts as a liaison between medical staff, community resources, and patients, ensuring comprehensive care and appropriate referrals. The position requires strong communication skills, clinical interviewing abilities, and knowledge of community mental health resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral health assessments in the Emergency Department.
  • Complete bio-psycho-social assessments for patients and families.
  • Act as a liaison between medical staff, community resources, and patients.
  • Work with Emergency Department and inpatient staff to create and implement behavioral health referrals and treatment modules.
  • Educate staff on behavioral health evaluations for patients with substance abuse and behavioral health concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with billing practices under the direction of the BH Manager.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program required.
  • Massachusetts licensed social worker (LCSW) required.
  • 3 plus years' experience working in Behavioral Health.
  • Working knowledge of community mental health care and addiction treatment resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with state agencies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
  • Ability to communicate in a concise and calm manner.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
