About the position

The Behavioral Health Co-Responder Clinician is a key member of the Clear Creek Health Assistance Team (CCHAT), which operates within the 911 system to provide trauma-informed, client-centered responses to individuals experiencing mental or behavioral health crises. This role involves collaborating with local law enforcement and community partners to respond to crisis calls, conduct assessments, and facilitate resource navigation for ongoing care. The clinician is responsible for developing community partnerships and maintaining program protocols, ensuring effective crisis intervention and support for vulnerable populations in Clear Creek County.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to mental and behavioral health-related 911 calls to provide crisis de-escalation and needs assessments.
  • Collaborate with on-scene personnel to advocate for the client's mental/behavioral health needs.
  • Understand and apply criteria for Emergency Mental Health Holds in Colorado.
  • Respond to referrals from EMS/Fire/LE/Community Partners and enroll clients in CIHCS services.
  • Provide ongoing resource navigation for clients post-contact.
  • Coordinate care for clients' bio-psycho-social needs with local and regional providers.
  • Assist community paramedics with social/mental health assessments for CIHCS clients.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships by attending meetings and events.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and participate in team meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related degree from an accredited program.
  • Current License as an LCSW/LPC/LMFT/LAC or another appropriate licensure in Colorado.
  • Minimum two years of experience in crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing moderate to severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

Nice-to-haves

  • LAC or CACIII certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with the DSM V and diagnostic techniques.
