About the position

The Behavioral Health Consultant (LCSW/LCSW-R) at the Institute for Family Health is a managerial role within the Behavioral Health department, focused on connecting patients to care. This position involves providing direct social work services, including crisis intervention and therapy, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. The consultant will also supervise staff and ensure quality assurance in service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct social work services, including crisis intervention, individual, and group therapy.
  • Assesses patients for behavioral health service needs via screening tools and clinical contact.
  • Provides single contact crisis intervention to patients seeing a primary care clinician.
  • Provides short term treatment to patients as assigned.
  • Reviews and outreaches to patients who receive a referral from Primary Care.
  • Participates in departmental quality assurance and CQI activities.
  • Supervises clinical and administrative work of assigned staff.
  • Provides clinical supervision for assigned staff.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the performance of assigned supervisees and completes evaluations for staff.
  • Oversees orientation and training of new staff.

Requirements

  • Masters in Social Work required
  • New York Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or equivalent required
  • Basic computer and internet navigational skills required
  • Computer literacy with Windows-based operating systems and MS Office applications required
  • Supervisory experience in health care setting, preferably in multi-site ambulatory care setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR technology) preferred
  • Bi-lingual Spanish preferred
