About the position
The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) plays a crucial role within a primary care clinic, providing short-term, evidence-based therapy and psychoeducation to a diverse range of patients, including adults, adolescents, and children. The BHC collaborates closely with primary care providers and other team members to address various behavioral health conditions, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide short-term, evidence-based individual therapy and psychoeducation services to patients of all ages.
- Assess and work with a wide array of presenting behavioral health issues.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and team members to offer consultation on behavioral health conditions.
- Collect diagnostic information and perform diagnostic assessments.
- Utilize evidence-based psychotherapy interventions to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- Skilled in collecting diagnostic information and performing differential diagnosis.
- Proficient in evidence-based psychotherapy interventions.
- Basic knowledge of psychotropic medications and primary care.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to work with electronic health records.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior work experience as a behavioral health specialist in a medical setting.
