About the position

The Behavioral Health Consultant will be an integral part of the ambulatory treatment team, providing direct behavioral health services to patients and families. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including consultation, assessment, counseling, education, and coordination of services with community agencies. The consultant will also assist in program development and evaluation, ensuring high-quality care and support for patients across diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral health services including assessment and evidence-based treatment in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Conduct clinical interviews, administer and score standardized assessment tools, and diagnose behavioral health conditions.
  • Deliver psychotherapy and counseling, documenting all interactions accurately in electronic health records.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with primary care providers, ambulatory practice teams, and community mental health providers.
  • Engage in case management and treatment coordination, including referrals and follow-up services for patients with behavioral health needs.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and assist in monitoring the behavioral health program.
  • Provide behavioral health education to staff, patients, and families in both individual and group settings.
  • May provide supervisory support to other team members, including performance assessment and intervention plan approval.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Consultant (LPCC).
  • Generalist knowledge of a variety of behavioral health conditions and evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Ability to work in a team-based integrated brief treatment model.
  • Up to 1 year of experience in a relevant clinical role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with evidence-based interventions such as motivational interviewing, problem-focused therapy, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
  • Experience in community mental health settings.
