About the position

The Behavioral Health Consultant at Wellstar Health System plays a crucial role in integrating behavioral health into primary care settings. This position focuses on providing evidence-based screenings, risk assessments, and brief interventions while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals. The consultant will ensure coordinated patient care and support patients in accessing community resources for specialty mental health services, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through the Wellstar Collaborative Advantage program.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evidence-based screenings and risk assessments for patients.
  • Provide brief interventions and support patients in accessing community resources for specialty mental health.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other behavioral health professionals to inform clinical decisions.
  • Engage in consultations with medical professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Deliver interventions across the lifespan, addressing the needs of both adult and pediatric patients.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work is required.
  • Master's degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program is required.
  • Current Georgia License as LCSW, LMFT, or LPC is required.
  • Three years' experience in a health-related field, mental health, and behavioral health is required.
  • Experience working in an ambulatory or hospital setting is preferred.
  • Crisis intervention skills and experience with brief evidence-based interventions are required.
  • Ability to work with patients using the biopsychosocial model is essential.
  • Demonstrated emotional maturity and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

  • Knowledge of developmental characteristics of people of all ages, economic backgrounds, and cultural backgrounds.
