About the position

The Behavioral Health Provider is a licensed independent Psychologist or LCSW/LISW responsible for providing mental health services to individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Arizona. This role involves assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, with a focus on delivering direct mental health services, conducting evaluations, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct mental health services including on-site counseling and individual/group psychotherapy.
  • Conducts mental health evaluations to enhance treatment plans for detainees with serious mental illnesses.
  • Provides substance abuse education and behavioral analysis for detainees with mental health issues.
  • Consults with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to provide education on treatment and management of patients with co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors patient treatment plans in coordination with behavioral health technicians.
  • Serves as the suicide prevention program coordinator in the absence of the Supervisory Behavioral Health Provider.
  • Provides education and training to ICE and medical staff on mental health issues, including suicide prevention and abuse.
  • Coordinates and monitors program functions including Post Order Custody Reviews (POCR).
  • Assesses and evaluates the mental health of residents according to DSM V diagnosis and refers to outside treatment facilities if necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience as a Licensed Provider (Clinical Psychologist or LCSW/LISW) at the independent level.
  • Possesses a high skill level in assessing, recognizing, and treating behavioral or other mental health conditions.
  • A current, permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice independently.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
