About the position

The Behavioral Health Provider position is responsible for delivering culturally competent behavioral health services and clinical consultation to primary care patients with mental health needs. This role involves collaboration with primary care providers, conducting assessments, implementing therapeutic methods, and providing education and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Consult and collaborate with primary care providers on the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders, substance use disorders, and psycho-social problems.
  • Provide psychopharmacological consultation for primary care providers in consultation with a psychiatrist.
  • Perform behavioral health screening, triage, evaluation, and assessment to determine appropriate levels of care.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic methods, including cognitive behavior therapy and contingency management.
  • Provide crisis intervention and behavioral health intervention.
  • Conduct group interventions including treatment, psycho-education, and health education.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate referrals to community resources as needed.
  • Maintain current patient case records and prepare reports as indicated.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, protocols, and paperwork to ensure program relevance and usability.
  • Review clinical interventions and case documentation with the Behavioral Health Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work/social welfare or a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Current California license as a clinical social worker (LCSW).
  • Current LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) or LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of directly related experience in primary care consultation, behavioral medicine, or health psychology.
  • Experience in public/community health settings and/or serving low-income multicultural populations.
  • Bilingual (preferably Spanish) highly desirable.
