About the position

The Behavioral Health Navigator serves as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking assistance from Intermountain Healthcare's Behavioral Health Services. This role is crucial in helping patients access the right care at the right time, ensuring they feel valued and supported throughout the process. The Navigator will schedule appointments, educate patients on available mental health resources, and assist in triaging callers to appropriate services, all while working remotely in a private home environment.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound calls in a professional, caring, non-judgmental and compassionate manner.
  • Triage callers to establish appropriate level of care.
  • Assist callers in connecting with referred resources.
  • Deescalate crisis situations to help callers get the appropriate level of care needed.
  • Schedule new patient appointments at various Intermountain locations.
  • Follow established triage protocols and document patient interactions.
  • Establish and maintain an accurate resource list of treatment facilities and community resources, updating the list as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience adapting quickly when the need arises.
  • Knowledge of available behavioral health community resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking
  • Three years of experience working with Behavioral Health Patients in a behavioral health care setting
  • Post high school education in a related field of study.
  • Experience with scheduling practices in iCentra - RevCycle.
