About the position

This job is a combination of direct clinical practice managing a caseload and as an Older Adult Behavioral Health Initiative specialist (OABHI) supporting the statewide initiative to engage the community in helping to address challenges facing older adults with behavioral health issues and adults with physical disabilities. As a Behavioral Health Specialist II, you'll have the opportunity to provide excellent care both directly and indirectly to the gero-psychiatric population within a multi-disciplinary team. No one day is the same. This position relies heavily on a medical social work lens. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, enriching environment with a rewarding, yet underserved, population. As an OABHI, you will partner with local agencies to help connect vulnerable older adults with behavioral health issues and adults with physical disabilities to needed resources and supports. This position also works with a team of OABHI specialists across the state of Oregon to offer trainings both locally and across the state to address information gaps in the aging and behavioral health population. The goal of the OABHI is to better meet the needs of older adults and people with disabilities by improving timely access to care from qualified providers who work together to provide coordinated, quality and culturally responsive behavioral health and wellness services.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy or a behavioral science field.
  • One (1) year of experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Knowledge of or experience with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Knowledge of older adult systems and levels of care.
  • Medical knowledge.
  • Skill in care coordination with a variety of agencies, family, and medical providers.
  • Skill in advocacy while maintaining working relationships.
  • Skill in preparing concise and complete reports and documentation in a timely manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current licensure without restrictions (LCSW, LMFT, LPC).
  • Previous experience with SPMI.
  • Previous experience within medical settings/medical knowledge.
  • Previous experience working with older adults.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish communication.
  • Previous experience working and collaborating with partner agencies to care coordinate complex cases.
