About the position

The Behavioral Health Specialist at Dynamic Service Solutions plays a crucial role in addressing the psychological and emotional impacts of disasters on survivors and responders. This position is integral to the Office of Human Services and Emergency Preparedness Response (OHSEPR), providing trauma-informed mental health support and developing strategies to assist U.S. citizens and their dependents returning from abroad. The specialist will engage in community outreach, conduct behavioral health assessments, and ensure adherence to ethical standards while managing project tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed mental health and psychosocial support services to adults and children returning to the U.S.
  • Develop strategies that provide mental health services and psychosocial support to the OHSEPR program.
  • Provide education to families about inpatient and outpatient processes and resources.
  • Conduct effective culturally competent behavioral health assessments for individuals and families.
  • Perform mental health assessments while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Complete project management tasks as required.
  • Manage conflict and respond to stressful situations effectively.
  • Listen with care and treat clients with respect and dignity, addressing their unique needs.
  • Understand and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
  • Assist with community outreach and build relationships with organizations and the community.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, Public Health, social science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar setting.
  • Experience in an emergency management setting is a plus.
  • Completion of FEMA courses is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Management experience in a behavioral health context.
